Hearing that the girl was only five when she moved away, Laken hardly considered her from Michigan. No one really gets a good enough taste of the place unless they've been there most of their life. The people who were there had been there since they'd been born usually. Only crazy people moved to that state of their own free will. It was like glue too; once you're there, you're stuck there. Something about a small town type state.
"I see," she said, the smile fading slightly. She moved her head in an upward motion, showing that she understood what the girl had said but her lips didn't move anymore. What was there to say to that? Laken had already spewed that she'd lived in that horrible state since she was born. She couldn't comment on that. Though, she could ask what city the girl was from or things like that. Sadly, she didn't feel like holding a conversation about the state though.
Actually, she wished inwardly that the girl might go away. Blue eyes drifting to James, Laken noted he was silent. The smile slowly slipped off her face as no one said anything. She didn't feel like carrying the conversation with Triver; the least she could do was carry a small bit of the conversation and not make her carry all the weight. James looked to be off in his own little world.
Her eyes drifted between Triver and James, wondering if something would go on between the two of them. She did that a lot, wonder about people and how relationships would develop between them. She did that specifically with people she wanted to hold a certain position in her life and if that person did have the spot she wanted open in their life, well, Laken would just feel crummy. She was wondering if Triver would take that spot for James.
Though, he probably was the type to never date, to never be interested in someone. Seemingly slightly cold and distant, it wouldn't surprise her one bit. Besides, Laken had Kyle right? Would this whole thing end up being like Lukas? Or did he already have an interest? Maybe they would be at the dance and she would find him dancing with the girl who had the spot she wanted. It wouldn't be like she didn't deserve to finally have her hopes broken by a boy because Lord knows she's had to break the hopes of many other boys.
She didn't understand that though. It seemed like boy just threw themselves at her. It surprised Laken a bit too because when a boy didn't instantly fall in love with her, she got slightly annoyed with him but that just made her want him to even more. It was such a confusing thing, to have to think about other people and their feelings. If everyone could just have a mood ring that told everyone their feelings, life would be a lot less complex. Of course, that would take the fun out of living. Well, at least she wouldn't have to worry about being jealous or anything.
