[/u] Ramos kid.”[/b][/i][/ul]
Living with the Ramos was definitely not easy, but it wasn’t exactly difficult either. On the scale of one to ten, Loren would probably say it’s a seven-point-five. If ever asked what made it so hard, Lor would’ve probably say that it’s because she still felt like she’s ‘new’ to the environment. But let’s be honest, when it all comes down to it—it was definitely a matter of, well brace yourself for the highly controversial, race.
Loren grew up knowing only one true parent, her mother, Cecilia Turner. The little redhead was the type of kid that was, pretty much unlike any other. While other kids seemingly have no sense of contentment at all and would prefer to have the world at their feet (pfft... silly kids!), it was Loren who was always contented with everything that she has. See, Loren was the type you can place in one corner, and expect to be in that same spot twenty minutes later. She was simply that behaved. She would socialize with the other kids, if and only if they were the first to approach her—never once taking the initiative to go up to someone.
She was a shy timid kid, to the point that Cecilia once worried about her daughter being socially inept, and to the point that little Loren might be... well, it might be a stretch, but depressed. Those types of thoughts were dismissed whenever she’d see her daughter beaming up as she had came to pick her from the daycare center, reminding her vaguely of her younger self. See, they were happy—and contented for the most part—even without a father figure around to do those ‘fatherly’ types of things. Who cares, Loren has Uncle Emmett anyway, Cecilia’s older more responsible brother.
At first stance, you wouldn’t probably notice the difference between Cecilia and Loren. Lor was Cecilia’s mini-replica, with only the exception of the younger girl’s full lips and narrow nose, but there was something different about the two of them that only shows once you get to know them more—and deeper, you may say. Cecilia was a rebellious kid, not exactly that sassy punk ass girl who listens to Blondie back in high school, but she was the type who liked to test limits, and thrills—however cheap they may be. Somehow the word ‘RULES’ would do nothing but tempt her into breaking it. She was reckless, carefree, ridiculously attractive, but most of all... she was young. She didn’t know what she was doing back then, or why—but she was doing it. Everything you can probably think of in your head, she had probably tried it once or twice (or thrice, if she had liked it).
Pretty much ironic since she’s from a well-off family, the type of family where in everybody’s annoyingly perfect in their own little way. In some obvious sense, Cecilia had the good life. Enrolled in a private school, lives in a ‘not entirely big, but unquestionably not small either’—which was, in a way, just a very modest description of their large house back then. Her mother had grew up as the fifth-born child in the family, the Turner’s third daughter with two older sisters, an two older brothers and a younger sister. You can tell they were a big family back then ‘noh? No wonder the house didn’t seem all that big for her—or for her siblings, at all! They all seemed to occupy the space nicely.
Things in the family home were pretty “boring” as Cecilia would say if asked about it recently. She always finds her life monotonous and such a bore back then, that cheap thrills seemed to be the only answer. But then she met Francisco Ramos, or just ‘Frank’. He was a good guy, yep—he really is. Though he was given pretty much a bad reputation around the area, he’s the type of guy that delivers—reliable, if you will, and trustworthy in that way—even if all the rumors about him seemed to contradict so. He was just the type of guy that Cecilia just dreamed of to come into her life. Needless to say there had been disagreements between their relationship, the race wasn’t exactly the thing—but more likely was the reputation. Cecilia’s family feared that if she was together with such a guy like Frank, she’d be even more embarrassing to the Turner family than she already was. It didn’t help either when the two were just about eight months into their relationship that he had gotten her accidentally pregnant.
Pregnant with Loren, that is.
Frank left her, not knowing how to handle things, and her family was ready to disown her. That’s where Emmett, the ‘golden child’ of the Turner family stepped in. He was considered the voice of reason in the family, also pretty close to Cecilia back then. He had always thought his spunky younger sister was just making her own mistakes and being... well, young. He had always been on defense of his younger sister, for him, she was probably the only interesting one in their family. He had been the one to reason with his parents to let Cecilia stay at home until she’s legal to get a place of her own. They acquiesced.
From what Loren can remember, her relationship with her grandparents weren’t always so easy. Since her mother was struggling to have her own place by then, she was always left to her grandparents. It wasn’t definitely easy at first, seeing as they rather despised the fact that one of their children got knocked up before she got hitched—or even graduated high school—but they began to see more and more of themselves at her, at least Cecilia’s father at the very least. Loren then grew closer to her grandfather, both of them having almost the same mellow personality.
Other than her family life and complicated family history, Lor’s life is pretty much normal. She was decent in school, she’s not necessarily the kid who gets straight A’s, but she tries. She had her own tight group of friends since pre-school. And life was pretty much easy-going for the red-head.
It was probably the hardest time for Loren, by all means. She had always been a passive person, the type who goes by the flow, but hearing the news that her biological father had offered Loren to stay with him and her mother agreed... it definitely infuriated the redheaded girl. It was early on her freshman year that her mother decided to take her away from New York to Connecticut. She was pretty devastated about the news, but her mother had also managed to convince her too—using the more dramatic route as Lor would’ve described. Cecilia broke into hysterics about how she wouldn’t want her daughter to not acknowledge her father, and all of those sorts.
So what can Loren do right?
But endure the pain that she’ll be experiencing at this new... environment. It was certainly different, at first it didn’t bother her—the fact that everyone around her was, well, Puerto Rican—but they seemed to be pretty peeved with her. She was unclear as to why exactly (never wanting to take the route of thinking that they might be actually annoyed by her because of her race—but wouldn’t she be part Puerto Rican if she was their father’s daughter too?) maybe they just didn’t like that their father had an outside relationship with another woman. It is still unclear to her. But what can she do, right? If she was to demand to her mom to get her back, her mother would probably be... well, devastated. ‘Seems like she still loves the guy who left her pregnant.’
Her school life here in Banting isn’t all that impressive. Since the Ramos kids had formed some conspiracy against her, she was then sorted into the wannabe’s clique. Although never had she wanted to be part of them, she just... is close with the people inside that clique.

timid. Is there anything else to describe this girl other than timid and cautious? If you would put her in a new foreign surrounding, she’d probably be the quiet one you wouldn’t notice. She’s extremely cautious about making first impressions that she can be pretty obsessive about presenting herself in a decent way. Loren’s the type of girl that would only speak only when forced or provoked, or rather, when the silence of an area gets far too uncomfortable for her. When she does talk, however, the conversation would seemingly start off as small talk, really. Loren would seem socially inept by that time, but it would only be because of the fact that she’s in a new environment. As time goes on, she’ll open up... slowly but surely.
short-tempered. Lor may seem to be the silent wall-flower type, but never underestimate this girl. She might not say anything verbally malicious to your face or to anyone, but she sure as hell is thinking about it. It makes her feel bad, too. As this quality makes her seem like a back-stabber and all.
pacifist. As malicious as her thoughts and impressions about some things and other people at times (or maybe, more recently as of late), Loren is a good natured person who opts for a conclusion that both sides could agree on, rather than a fight or a debate breaking out.
child-like. Even as Loren seemed to be the type of girl that’s reserved and mature in manner, deep inside she knows that there’s that child-like quality inside her lurking about. Wacky, fun and not as high-strung as she is in real-life. As evidenced with her collection of Beanie Buddy toys, that is.
