The days were long at Banting University when you didn't have class. Things got old around here real fast. Laken Rose Cullens having been here for three years, this one being her fourth, has seen all the little town and small school has to offer. She's read all the books she could possibly think of. She's study as much as humanly possible for all her tests and classes coming up. She was left with absolutely nothing to do. This is when she depended on her friends for company and things to do. It was what would keep her entertained for a while.
Turning up the volume on her pink Zune, her ear buds were attached to her ears as usual. It would be strange to not see the white cords hanging from her ears and ending at the music player. The only time Laken did not have those gosh dang ear buds in her ears was during class when it wasn't allowed. Every second it was allowed however, the buds were right back in. At this moment, the buds were pounding Elanor Rigby by the Beatles into her ears. The player was of course set on random, so the song came up as a surprise. She loved this song though.
Walking from her dormitory to the little lounge area for all the students, Laken thought it unfair that the boys had less of a walk than the girls. Weren't they suppose to be the strong ones? She mentally laughed at herself for being so momentarily shallow. It really didn't bother her at all. She was just so bored with the lack of something to do that she was finding reasons to complain and entertain her mind.
Sighing, she flopped herself on one of the big couches that was in the area, the blue one in front of the television. She didn't turn it on, she just sat there, enveloped in cushion. She smiled to herself as she wiggled around on the couch to get comfortable. Laken decided this was the perfect place to relax because not only was it comfortable but she would be the first to see if any of her friends were leaving the area or coming into it. Either way, she could snag them before they got too busy and then she could be happily occupied.
Now all she had to do was wait for people to show up.

Quietly, she snuck in the room without making a sound. Obviously she had had a lot of practice. The red head had her hair in a pony tail as usual. At first she felt disapointed, noone was hear, then she spotted the back of a head. It took her a while to figure out who it was. Blonde hair, who could it be? LAKEN! Her smirk came to her face as soon as she reconized who it was. Raine ran up from behind the couch and gracefully swung her legs around in mid-air so that she was now sitting next to her friend. Aa. Who is this I see, alone? A little giggle came from her as she acted surprised. LAKEN! no way! Raine smiled then hugged her.

Jumping from the sudden appearance of her friend, Laken let a noise of surprise out. It was a mix of gargled spit, a yelp, and a gasp. It was not one of the prettier things she allowed out of her mouth. Actually, it was one of the ugliest things to come out of her mouth. It was always amusing to her though that when someone was surprised, they could never make a good enough scream or noise; the same goes for when you're in trouble. It just didn't work that way for some reason.
Hugging the girl back lightly, still a little shaken up from the surprise, Laken smiled weakly back at Raine. She let out a chuckle that said she was obviously frightened. It took the body longer to calm down than the mind and so for the next minute or so, her body would be in panic mode. "Well, it's good to see you Raine, and not Death," she said. She was easily scared, no doubt about that, and it was obvious when she was.
"What are you up to, besides scaring the bejeepers out of me?" she asked, smiling, her body regaining control, no longer freaking out. Laken relaxed now, her body not so tense and tight. Well, all this was definitely more interesting than studying, that's for sure. She could never recall a book jumping off the shelve and throwing itself at her. Besides, a little bit of adrenaline pump was healthy for everyone.

Weekends.
Ashton loved her weekends. The days when she didn't have to put up with the bullshit that Banting U brought on a daily basis. If it wasn't for her friends, then she would pro baby die. Though Ashton only had a few friends, two to be exact, she loved them both dearly. On weekends she could sleep in until noon and just lay around the dorm in her pajamas with her music on full blast. This was the way that Ashton relaxed and unwound from the stresses of the week. God knew she had way too many. First there was the Populars who were constantly giving her shit about her looks and the opinions that she expressed in classes. Then there was the stresses of her math class. She was taking Pre-Calc and absolutely hated it. She tended to skip out on that class and was failing as of now. Not that she cared. The only subjects that she really cared about were her English Classes; Lit and Comp and Science Fiction Lit. She loved these classes and excelled greatly in them. This was the class that the Populars usually gave her shit in. She was learning to let it just roll off her shoulders now, but she still internalized some of it.
Today, Ashton had decided to make her way up to the Student Lounge. She came here on a regular basis and sat in her favorite chair in front of the window the over looked the Banting grounds. It was around 11am and she was still in her pajamas, being too lazy to get dressed and not thinking that she would meet anyone there. No one liked to really go up to the student lounge. That's why Ashton loved it. It was a place she could go to look out her window and read a book or listen to music. Today, she was going to listen to her music. She strolled out of her dorm, iPod in hand and began making her way down the stairs to the Student Lounge. She never understood the set up of the dorm building. It was very strange with the Student Lounge on the bottom, the boys dorms in the middle and the girls dorms on top. It would make more sense if the Student Lounge was on the top floor. But maybe it made sense to the people who built it. Not even thinking, Ashton tripped on her too long pajama pants and nearly fell down the stairs. She caught herself just in time. After getting over the shock of nearly falling she laughed lightly. She was glad no one was there to see her almost face plant. She was such a klutz sometimes. That contributed to why she was so accident prone as well.
Finally making it down the stairs in one piece she opened the big, heavy doors the lead into the student lounge. By this time, she was looking down at her feet to make sure she wouldn't trip again, so she didn't even see her two closest friends sitting on one of the large couches in the lounge. Raine, Laken and Ashton were the dream team. Well, kinda. Raine and Laken were best friends and Ashton was simply a third wheel. But it never really felt like that. Raine and Laken always made her feel included when she was with them. That is what Ashton loved about them. She had met Laken on the first day of English class when the only seat open was next to her. Ashton was glad that she sat down there that day. Laken was the first person to befriend her when she first started at Banting. Laken was an 'Unlabeled' so she pretty much hung out with anyone she wanted. That was one thing she really admired about Laken. She didn't give into the pressures of the cliques. After a few days of talking and hanging out, Laken introduced Ashton to her best friend, Raine. Raine was a Emo/Scene just like her. They didn't have much in common and often got in petty arguments in which they wouldn't talk for days. But after a few days they both came crawling back to the other with an apology. Either way, they were close and nothing could change that.
Looking up, Ashton saw the light blonde hair of Laken and the electric red hair of Raine. A smile immediately appeared on her face. She tip toed over to the two, since their backs were to her. She listened to their conversation for a moment before snaking her arms around each of their heads and covering both their eyes with one hand.
'Who's your favorite person in the world?'
Ashton asked with a slight giggle in her voice.
[[OOC: Hah hah. Long. I'm feeling very creative today]]

Again, it was hard not to let a giggle out. Laken should have known that Raine loved to see her flip. It amused her when the other girl shook, almost like it made her feel powerful. Nothing really, as always. Boring old Raine Her voice was calm, almost like she was discusted with the words that she had said, and who wouln't be. Her life was a bore. You, miss.scardy pants? It was after she answered that Raine felt a hand over her eyes, then saw it go dark. Her smirk widened as she thought of Lakens face at this time. Ummm.... Pete Wentz? That hottie. She giggled some more, hiding the fact that she honestly didn't know who it was.

Just as she opened her mouth to reply to Raine, a hand went over her eyes. Taking in a big breath of air and jump slightly at the surprise, Laken's hands instantly went up to the fingers blocking out the light. She touched them, trying to find any distinguishing features about them, to figure out who they were. If there was a ring on a certain finger, she'd know who it was instantly. She paid attention to details that way. It was bit scary.
"Someone who's not going to kill me?" she asked, slightly intimidated. Laken was such a baby sometimes, it was crazy. Well, Raine didn't sound too panicked and if something happened to her, at least she wouldn't die alone. She had such an active imagination that she just went crazy and thought the best, worst, realistic, and in between possibilities of a scenario all at once.
The worst was that a crazy physco killer had broken into the school and was deciding to kill all the students. Of course with Laken's luck, she'd just so happen to be sitting in the first floor of the first place a killer would check. The best case was it was just Ashton, since she really had no other girl friends other than Perry, which this was a very uncharacteristic thing of her to do. All of these things played out in her head at the same time. It was amazing how quickly her brain could work.
"Really, don't kill me, please. I can do all your homework, run your business, whatever, promise," she said, half serious, mostly joking. It was no secret how easily Laken was scared. Though she knew she wasn't in any danger, it was still nice to joke about it. Her fingers were still feeling the fingers around her eyes, trying to figure it out. She was so bad at these games.

'Ummm.... Pete Wentz? That hottie.'
Asthon gasped at this response. How could Raine NOT know who it was. Wasn't her voice distinguishing enough. Though, Raine and Ashton had been friends for a couple of years, and they hung out all the time, they still didn't have the best relationship in the world. Sure, they were close, but they fought like sisters. Saying things that they would never say normally then coming back and apologizing a week later. She laughed lightly and shook her head. She kept her hand over both the girls eyes. She intended to until they could guess who it was. Ashton was pretty sure that Laken had a good idea, but Raine was probably clueless.
'Someone who's not going to kill me?'
Ashton laughed out loud at Laken's comment. She was always such a scardey cat. The smallest things would scare her to tears. Now they both had to know who it was. Ashton had a extremely distinguished laugh. It was kinda of a loud giggle. Ashton hated it, but everyone said it was so cute. Every time this would be said she rolled her eyes and smiled, making sure not to laugh.
'You're both wrong!'
Ashton said removing her hands from both their eyes and climbing over the back of the sofa, sitting in between them. She was practically sitting on their laps because the two were so close together. Ashton first leaned over and gave Laken a little one armed hug and then leaned the other way to give Raine one. She smiled at both.
'What's up, my homies?'

As soon as the laugh broke through the silence in the room, Laken knew instantly who it was. Well, duh, she thought. That was so not obvious in anyway. The sarcasm was thick, even in her own head. She felt... well, slightly blonde for not realizing who it was. Every blonde had to live up to their hair color every now and again and this just so happened to be her turn. She was smart all the time, it was time for her to slip up.
As Ashton sat between the two and hugged Laken, she hugged her back, both arms wrapping quickly yet enthusiastically around her friends waist in a hug. She smiled largely at her friend and said, replying to her comment about them both being wrong, "So you are going to kill me?" She grinned slyly at her friends, hoping they'd catch the joke. She knew she thought a little differently than people but really, her best friends. They should get the joke quiet instantly. At least she hoped they would so she wouldn't feel like a total loser.
Settling in happily next to her friends, she felt okay and at completely content. It was amazing how much certain people could affect her mood. These two just happened to lift her boring old day up and make it perky again. Hearing Ashton what's up, my homies, Laken knew she was too white to answer that question correctly in the proper ghetto fashion. She tried anyway. "Nothin' too much my homie G skillet, just chillin' on the sofisow," she said, her voice sounding very white and unsure of herself. She chuckled at herself, feeling very, very dorky.

A smile on her lips showed. Even if it was fake, it was there. The only one who could really pick out her fake ones, were Laken, and Raine hoped she didn't say anything on the subject. Her eyes looked at, or even better glared, at Ashton. Of corse she was wrong, but if she had guessed right, Ashton would have felt welcomed. Something that Raine thgouht she wasn't in this circle of friends. But that's how it goes in a love-hate type. A few weeks ago they had gotten in an argument. Raine said it was fine and she was over it and ready to move onto the 'love' part of their friendship, of corse that was a pile of bull shit. Even more, Ashton had placed herself between Raine and Laken, something she should have known not to do. Yet, she held her mouth shut so nothing would slip. Once Laken spoke in an attempt to sound like a bad ass gangster Raine leaned forward so she could look her best friend in the eyes. No. no, no, no ,no, no. Laken, Darling, what color skin do we have? She traced her finger along her own arm before continueing, not letting Laken to respond yet. White. We are White. She shook her head, not able to find more words to go with this. After a while she leaned back into the cushion of the couch. Her eyes looking, or glareing, at Ashton.

Laken laughed, though the look in Raine's eyes didn't go unnoticed by her. She'd thought the two had made up and were peachy keen this week. It was so confusing sometimes, having the two switch back and forth, not knowing if they liked each other today or not. She just assumed that Raine was angry with Ashton; Ashton had, after all, sat by Raine too. Though her laugh was genuine, it was still in the back of her mind.
"I'm an inside-out oreo, yo," she said, her gangster accent horrible. "You're just jealous because you can't be as ghetto as me."
Words like that coming out of Laken were just strange. She was the type of person to articulate everything and say the proper sounds of things. She was not gangster, not ghetto at all. It was a sad attempt to be cool.
She laughed again though and say, "Maybe I should just shut up before I make too big of a fool out of myself?" Her smile was all over her voice, something to be happy about. Though Laken still had Raine's problem in the back of her mind, she would ask her about it at a later time so she wouldn't embarrass her if she didn't want Ashton to know about it.
