"I'm done yelling." Gavin replied to her screams. His voice was low and broken. He kept his eyes on the ground, purposely not meeting hers. He was still angry but he knew that if he kept up the yelling he would do something that he really didn't want to.
"You're weak Gavin." The words kept playing in his head and they just didn't make sense. He wasn't the toughest kid he know but he knew a lot more weaker then him. He'd beaten kids older then him barely breaking a sweat. And he was prepared to do it again when he got his hands on the guy Serena was talking about. How could he be so naive to think she was lying about something like that.
"I just can't okay? I don't know why." He knew that wasn't a good answer. But it was the only answer he knew. He acted the way he acted because that's who he is. He can't change in and he can't explain why.

Serena just wanted to through something at his head. She gave a great sigh and sat down again knowing it wouldn't be fair to leave him in that state. Even though they were fighting and she just couldn't stand him she couldn't help but remember some of the good times they shared. For a rebel Gavin was quite curtious at times, mostly when he wasn't drinking or doing something stupid.
"Look me and Dar... I mean my friend aren't even official. You're jumping to conclusions. I certainly like him at all but, oh nevermind." After Serena said her last words she turned her back to him sitting on the bench still.

Gavin continued to look down when Serena talked but glanced up at her when she almost slipped with the name. He knew she hoped he didn't hear it but he did. Well part of it anyway. Gavin didn't know many people by name but if he knew someone's name he remembered it. Nothing was coming to him right away so he probably didn't know the guy.
As Gavin continued to think he sat down on the ground where was was standing. The ground was a lot colder than the bench but he wasn't gonna sit next to her. He hated feeling like this. He was definitely not going to class now.
"Well if he's not a rebel, you guys probably won't be official. You can't" He said even though he knew the word Can't never stopped her. His voice was just above a whisper, at this point he was just talking to talk so they wouldn't sit in silence.

Serena felt herself clenching her fists. If she wasn't careful she would break the skin of her palms... again. There was far too much going on in her life without Gavin making it even more complicated. Serena always felt distant from her friends lately and then there were her parents always badgering her about school. It was far too much for a girl like her to handle. She wished Gavin would go fall off a glacier or something.
"To tell you the truth I don't think I want to even be a rebel anymore..." she said looking at him clear in the eye.

Gavin looked away from her eyes and over toward the door leading inside the school. The halls weren't packed yet but they weren't empty anymore.
"You don't belong anywhere else." He felt a little bad for saying that she didn't belong but he only knew her as a rebel, nothing else and he couldn't see her anywhere else. He still didn't meet her eyes but pulled his phone out of his pocket and just absentmindedly stared at the light-up screen.

His comment made her heart ice over. In a way he was right... maybe she didn't belong anywhere else. No, he was only part right. She didn't belong anywhere and she always knew it. A thought lingered in her mind. Will I always be alone forever?
"You're right. Maybe I don't. But I certainly don't belong here." she said dreamily looking up at the rising sun. "This is goodbye Gavin... for good."
Serena gathered herself up and headed out into the hallway. She looked back once more to see him for a final time, and then she was gone.

Gavin solemnly watched her as she went. He couldn't think of anything left to say. They'd been in fights before but none as bad as what had just happened. He stuffed his phone back in his pocket and stood up. Two girls were standing by the door way where Serena just left. They were whispering and looking at Gavin. He could tell they were freshmen and probably not of an important clique. He quickly walked passed them, almost knocking one into a wall, and back into the school. He could see Serena a distance down the hallway but before he could even think of trying to follow her she turned a corner and was gone. Gavin turned and headed the opposite way down the hall. Yeah, there was no way he was getting to any class today. He was going back to his dorm and finding any alcohol he had stashed away up there.
